How to Drink More Water Every Day

Summer is finally here, and that means water is everywhere – from your swimming pool to the beach and hopefully in your cup! As the weather gets warmer, you will sweat more, which means drinking enough water is more important than ever to replenish your body! When it comes to how much water to drink a day, doctors recommend at least 13 cups for men and around nine cups, or around eight big glasses, for women. We realize that sounds like a lot, but in the long run, drinking the right amount of water will help keep your mind and body healthy! To make it easier, here are some ways to drink more water that’ll have you swimming with joy!

Drink Water Before Meals

Doctors recommend drinking a full-sized glass of water before every meal, which will help fill you up so you don’t overeat, thus contributing to your weight loss journey as well. A recent study found that participants who drank a glass of water before each meal lost more weight than those who didn’t. With that in mind, try preparing a 16-ounce glass of water about 30 minutes before your next meal and get sipping!

Add Flavor to Your Water

Drinking water can get boring after a while, so to liven things up, try adding some flavor! For a mild and fresh taste, we recommend adding simple fruits like lemons, oranges, strawberries and even cucumbers. Or if you’re looking for something with more of a kick to it, try adding delicious flavored concentrate! Stay away from additives that are high in sugar and shoot for ones that are low in calories and high in protein, like our selection of healthy fruit drinks. We have amazingly delicious flavors that you can add to your water, like tropical fruits and raspberry. These are so good, you’ll think your water is juice!

Drink Water at Room Temperature

Not many people realize this, but when our water is really cold, we’re less likely to drink more than one or two sips because our body has trouble handling it. However, if you keep the water only slightly cool or at room temperature, you’ll be surprised to find how much more water you can take in! We don’t recommend drinking too much in one sitting, but this method can definitely help you if you’re behind on ounces for the day and need to get back on track.

Download an App

When you have a busy day, drinking water can sometimes fall behind on the list of importance. This is when an app comes in handy! Waterlogged is a free app for iPhones that helps you set reminders for yourself and keeps track of your progress throughout the day. Another is WeTap, which is available for Android and helps you find water fountains around your area so you can get in that extra water if you ran out or have forgotten a bottle.

Invest in a Good Water Bottle

A special water bottle can really motivate you to keep drinking and will help encourage you to keep track of your intake! We suggest buying one that has markings on it to show you how much you’ve drunk. Plus, you’ll have the added bonus of helping the environment by cutting back on plastic bottles. It’s a win-win all around!

No matter what method works for you, just make sure that you’re drinking plenty of water every day. This can go a long way towards creating a healthier lifestyle and a happier you!
